Smile even when you are wearing a silly Christmas sweater.
Give a kind word or a special hug when you sense it is needed.
Always interact up close and personal.
Don't be afraid to dream. This was the first day at the home for children she had long dreamed about opening in Mexico.
Share your joy and your dreams with others.
Celebrate other's talents and share your own.Show the world you are a Christian.
Show the children you love them.
Don't let the language be a barrier. If you want to know something, ask!
This is my favorite picture of Marylou. She holds a very happy Jennifer in a loving embrace.
Encourage the children to share even if they only have a little.
As she showed the girls the second house, she was as thrilled as she had been when we opened the first. Show your enthusiasm.
Share the spotlight.
Check things out for yourself; know what you are getting into.
Never far from Jack's side, Marylou showed me what caregiving is all about.
Cooking for others is a way of showing them you care.
A family is not always related to you.
Sometimes, you have to step up and give orders.
Sometimes, you have to participate and not lead.
Fun is as important as food for children.
Adults need nurturing, too.
Don't be afraid to play; get down to their level.
You don't always have to show your best side.
Appreciate all gifts.
Demonstrate appropriate behavior.
Stay organized.
Do what you expect others to do.
HUG!
Pose when kids want to take your picture.
Family pictures are important.
Don't ever be too busy to enjoy the people around you.
Don't be afraid to admit defeat. This was one of those times when Marylou had a "project" to share. She was going to show the ladies who were visiting how to make tortillas...
After a failed attempt, Delia was called in to save the day and Marylou joined those making the balls of dough.
Quiet time for conversations is essential.
Pray! Pray before meals, Pray before driving into Mexico, Pray to give thanks and Pray to ask. PRAY!
Take time to communicate with Delia.
Take time for hugs and photographs.
Take time to prepare and plan ahead. Bags and boxes and quilts and all kinds of things need to be ready for Outreach Day.
Leaders lead.
And Leaders Pray.
And Leaders Celebrate and Commemorate a job well done.
After posing for pictures during the Christmas celebration,
Marylou took time to tell the Christmas story
and to Pray with the children
before gifts were distributed.
Give freely to the young
and the not so young.
And accept graciously.
The last beautiful Christmas picture with Jack and Marylou...
Share.
Show Love, Give Love,
Accept Love!
Show your emotions.
Share your kitchen.
Happy Birthday Marylou! I am so glad we celebrated the day! Celebrate Your Birthdays!
Be a child once in a while.
Love your man!
Love the kids and Delia and the joy that is The House in Mexico.
Marylou definitely knew how to show love and give love and share love. I miss her!
When we visited the first House in Mexico on the first day, this last rose of summer was blooming in the yard. It will always remind me of Marylou's joy that day at having her dream come true.
