Today, it was a cold day in Algodones. The temperature this morning was in the low 40's. Because of the cold weather, there was no school for the morning shift kids... there were 14 kids at the house today! It seems that each child who comes to the house has more "baggage" than anyone should have to tote around - hunger, abuse, no home, lack of parenting or drug addicted parents...
There is, however, plenty of love to go around from all of us who spend time at the house and plenty to eat thanks to generous donations and warmth thanks to those who make quilts and afghans. So many people have contributed so much!
Enough words - enjoy the day with us...
This little one is a miracle baby - even has a plate in his head.
With so many little ones, a doorway gate to keep them on the main level is essential.
John's unique stance resulted in a new wall hanging.
Marylou had the children make greeting cards - first time using scissors for some.
Another craft activity made use of stickers collected and donated and oh so much fun for all.
Marylou laminated the sticker pictures for each child. Take a quick look around the house.
Before heading off to school, some of the kids listened to each other read stories
and the guys tried to figure out how to make the stove work properly.
I was entertained and got lots of loving from the kids... oh, I was suppose to be watching them - tough job...
We enjoyed the same lunch as the children - no room at the table today.
This afternoon, Glee and ML working on sorting and organizing while Jack, John, Mike and Dalia went to San Luis to buy a new stove - it will be delivered early this evening and tomorrow the men return to hook it up and make sure it functions properly and safely.
I enjoyed the warming sunshine and provided the children with a bit of supervision - I had the best job of all today!
It was not just another day, it was a gift from God and it was filled with love, laughter and blessings!
Till next time, remember to listen when God whispers and respond when He nudges.
