Beads and Building Blocks, Cake and Crayons, and A New Sofa

These are some of the basics of the last couple of weeks at the House in Mexico.  When Peggy decided she wanted to do beading with the little munchkins, I have to admit I was skeptical. I was sure these little ones would find it much too difficult and eat the beads.  I am proud to admit that I was wrong! 

The Two Year Old did just fine.

Our Newest Member of the Family - She's Three.  I'm just sorry I don't have a picture of the finished products - they showed excellent craftsmanship.

Another day, when it was much too windy to be outside, the blocks and inside toys were put to use.

This vacuum cleaner looking object was a work of art and he could push it around with the handle... an engineer maybe???

Periodically, someone shares cake and it is always a big hit.  This little one loves all food but cake is really good...

"Ahhhh, that was really really good!"

When the girls come for lunch before school, you never are too sure what is going to happen.  On this day, Mike was the "toy".  (The kids had my camera and this is only a small sample of the 20+ pics they took of the process and the product.)

Earlier this week, The Park Model at Pilot Knob lost a couch and the kids gained a friend...

The hauling crew fixed a chair while they were there and Cake Boy had to get a good look.

Sometimes there are disagreements, but they are quickly resolved.  Look at these two going at each other...

A new pink coat is a reason to celebrate!

Coloring is a good calming activity...

Dumping out colors is a good activity.

Guarding the crayon bucket is a good activity.

Oh, did I tell you that the new sofa makes into a bed.  When you don't feel good, it is a great place for a nap...

until everyone comes in for a nap.  I think there are seven on the bed and look at all the empty space...

As the weather in Algodones warms into the 90's, it is nice to know there are donated icy pops in the freezer.  Thanks to all of you who make this wonderful home for children a reality.  Mike and I are the lucky ones to be here for another month.  Marylou and Jack have returned to Canada to deal with Marylou's health problems.  So, as you think about and pray for the children at The House in Mexico, please include a prayer for Marylou.
